This jug or vase is made by the well known Dutch pottery artist Hannie Mein (1933-2003). It is an interesting design with great proportions and colors. The upper rim widens out to a great extend and another great detail is the darker colored rim at the base. Overall the glaze is very interesting with shifting colors and dripping traces. It is a unique piece, signed 'Hannie Mein' at the base.
Johanna Greta (Hannie) Mein studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and became one of the best known pottery artists of the Netherlands in the mid 20th century.
