At the beginning of his famous career Giò Ponti (1891 – 1979) was art director for the Italian ceramics factory Richard Ginori. At this time he designed numerous pieces for the company, including this wonderful vase in gold and terracotta. This is a very understated design, but due to the striking gold colored interior it really is a beautiful piece. It shows beautiful design can be very simple.
