'Pistis Sophia' Shaped Art Deco Mirror in Hand Forged Metal. Presumably European, 1920s.
Wonderful and special mirror in hand forged metal in a distinct art deco style with a desirable patination. First of all, the shape of this unique mirror is really fantastic. This so called 'Pistis Sophia' shape is based on the space which appears when two circles overlap each other. It looks a bit like an ellipse, but is something different when you look closely. You don't come across this shape very often, let alone in something like a decorative mirror. Furthermore, the mirror is hand made and has a wonderful repetitive pattern on the metal edge. The metal is hand forged and has gained a nice patina over time.
The original mirror plate has some nice weathering on it, but if perfectly usable. A great piece for in a hallway, bathroom or bedroom.
Great vintage condition with a desirable patination on the metal parts.
